A Prayer to Avoid Sin and Temptation of Wrong Doing

Good Morning!

Do not incline my heart to [consent to or tolerate] any evil thing, or to practice deeds of wickedness with men who plan and do evil; and let me not eat of their delicacies (be tempted by their gain).  -Psalms 141:4 AMP

Has it ever happened that you ran with a crowd that practiced not doing the right thing? This could be as a kid we got wrapped up in the wrong crowd that has followed us into adulthood; it could be as an adult, in your career, you have the temptation to blur the line because you see the people around you doing it all the time and getting away with it; maybe through mid-life crisis of sorts you start hanging out with a crowd that encourages you to blur the lines of your morals because “you got to live a little.” There are many examples of this, but memorizing the verse above and using it as a prayer when those temptations come along reminds us of what is important. Not allowing ourselves to get sucked into the wrong thing may not be the popular choice and it may not be the easiest choice, but it’s the right choice. Rarely is the right thing the easy thing, but well worth the wait and well worth the extra effort. When it feels like you stand alone in the world, remember that God is there waiting, willing, and encouraging, we just have to open our eyes and awareness to receive it.
