Proverbs 9:8

Good Morning!

Do not correct a scoffer [who foolishly ridicules and takes no responsibility for his error] or he will hate you; correct a wise man [who learns from his error], and he will love you.  -Proverbs 9:8

Which one are we? Are we the scoffer or the wise man? Are we ok with being corrected and what is our response to it? The correct response is to make adjustments, to take the correction and thank the person for giving it to us. Too many times though the flesh in us wants to respond like the scoffer and get upset at the person trying to help us and not change in spite of it. The flip side of this is, if we are the one giving the correction, are we doing it with love and humbleness or are we self-righteous and flippant? This applies in all aspects of our lives with friends, co-workers, children, family, spouses, etc. How can we apply this today?

“You can’t accept correction when you are not humble to listen.”  -Israelmore Ayivor

“Be humble to see your mistakes, courageous to admit them, and wise enough to correct them.”  -Amine Ayad
