John 5:5-9

Good Morning!

There was a certain man there who had been ill for thirty-eight years. When Jesus noticed him lying there [helpless], knowing that he had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to get well?” The invalid answered, “Sir, I have no one to put me in the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am coming [to get into it myself], someone else steps down ahead of me.” Jesus said to him, “Get up; pick up your pallet and walk.” Immediately the man was healed and recovered his strength, and picked up his pallet and walked.  -John 5:5-9

There is a lot to take from this passage. One of the things I would like to point out is when Jesus asked the paralytic if he wanted to get well, the paralytic didn’t really answer His question but instead told Jesus why he hadn’t gotten healed, almost like he was giving Him the reason he was still in that condition. Getting in the pool was the only way the paralytic knew how to get healed so that is what he was focused on when Jesus asked him if he wanted to get well instead of just answering the question. How many times is Jesus asking us a question that we answer with an reason of why we are still in our rut. Jesus isn’t asking us why we are in our rut, He is asking us if we want to get out of our rut….how do we answer Him?

Dad Joke of the Day:

I walked into a toy store to do some early Christmas shopping and asked the assistant, “Where are the Arnold Schwarzenegger dolls?”

He said, “Aisle B, back.”

Have a great Wednesday!
