James 3:3-5

Good Morning!

Power of the Tongue Series

Now if we put bits into the horses’ mouths to make them obey us, we guide their whole body as well. And look at the ships. Even though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are still directed by a very small rudder wherever the impulse of the helmsman determines. In the same sense, the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things. See [by comparison] how great a forest is set on fire by a small spark!  -James 3:3-5

The tongue is such a small part of our body but yet can do so much good or so much damage. The words we say throughout life determines the kind of relationships that we have, if we are always negative chances are that we will not have much positive stuff going for us in life and our relationships will be limited. If we are encouraging to those around us, our relationships will flourish. Encouragement can be, but doesn’t have to be, bubbly positivity, it does however need to be sincere; it might be just listening and giving some sincere encouraging words. Like the above verse states, the great forest fires were started with a small spark, the massive ships are guided by a small rudder. Like most things, the tongue can be used for good or it can be used for bad. Which way are you going to use it today?

“Be sure to taste your words before you spit them out.”

“We need to think of our tongue as a messenger that runs errands for our heart. Our words reveal our character.”

Dad Joke of the Day:

If you drink a milkshake on the edge of a cliff…

That’s ledge and dairy.

Have a great Friday and awesome weekend!
