We have heaven and eternal life promised to us. But if we are living according to our flesh we do not have those promises ahead of us. It is a daily battle because the struggle is always there to veer off to the side and live in our own selfishness. I have heard it described that we are like a misaligned car and if we let go of the steering wheel we will run off the road either to the right or to the left and it takes constant intentionality to stay on the road. Not living in the flesh takes constant intentionality.
