Out of the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. These things, my brothers, should not be this way [for we have a moral obligation to speak in a manner that reflects our fear of God and profound respect for His precepts]. Does a spring send out from the same opening both fresh and bitter water? Can a fig tree, my brothers, produce olives, or a grapevine produce figs? Nor can salt water produce fresh.   -James 3:10-12<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On our last day of the Power of the Tongue series the verses above are a good reminder of trying to be consistent in our faith. If we are all over the board with our faith, it can be hard to effectively minister to people. If they see us one day praising and worshiping God and the next cursing our co-worker, neighbor, boss, etc., it is hard for them to take us seriously let alone have a good opinion of our faith. These scriptures are tough because they are so hard to live out but like they state, your tongue (or the words it produces) is the hardest thing to control. Ultimately it starts with our thoughts since our words are often our thoughts spoken out, it is in our thoughts that we need to try to change. Words have power and once spoken are not able to be taken back, only repented of and learned from. The beauty of it is that words can have just as big of an impact for the positive than for the negative, choose them wisely and choose them for good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe words you speak become the house you live in.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWords are free, it\u2019s how you use them that may cost you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
