When we live in righteousness the effect of that is we will have peace. If we are not at peace we should inspect our lives and be honest with ourselves and figure out what in our lives is not in full righteousness. We then need to repent of whatever that is and do everything we can to live in righteousness to where we can then have that peace, quietness, and confident trust that we are promised in the above verse. The enemy loves to convince us that we have every right to hold that grudge against that particular person, or to hang on to that certain vice that we may have. He loves to give us justification for whatever that thing is that keeps us from having that peace.
