So there remains a [full and complete] Sabbath rest for the people of God. For the one who has once entered His rest has also rested from [the weariness and pain of] his [human] labors, just as God rested from [those labors uniquely] His own. Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest [of God, to know and experience it for ourselves], so that no one will fall by following the same example of disobedience. -Hebrews 4:9-11<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Everyone needs a time of rest, a time when we shut off the stresses of life and just enjoy rest. It has been medically and scientifically proven that people that take a day of rest every week are healthier both mentally and physically and overall more productive in life. That rest might look different depending on the person. For some it might mean solidarity with a book somewhere, for some it might mean getting together with friends, for some it might mean going and doing an activity that brings you peace but don\u2019t get to do otherwise. God knew the benefits of that day of rest and that is why He set the example of it in the beginning. God didn\u2019t need the rest after the six days but He did it as an example of how we should live. Jesus opposed the religious crowd during the time He was on earth by going against what they thought was not allowed on the Sabbath, He healed people. He said in Mark 2:27, \u201cThe Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.\u201d The word Sabbath comes from the Hebrew word \u2018Shabbath\u2019 which literally means rest. I know people that take their Sabbath on Saturday (which is when the Jews took it in biblical times), I also know people (some pastors) that take their Sabbath on a Monday because their Sunday is the busiest day of their week. The point is that we take the rest, focus on God, let our minds have a break, and reset.
