For the sinful nature has its desire which is opposed to the Spirit, and the [desire of the] Spirit opposes the sinful nature; for these [two, the sinful nature and the Spirit] are in direct opposition to each other [continually in conflict], so that you [as believers] do not [always] do whatever [good things] you want to do. -Galatians 5:17<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The difference between our flesh and the Holy Spirit is kind of like light and darkness. When there is light present darkness has to flee, you can\u2019t have all dark and all light at the same time, they can not co-exist. There are times when the light gets disconnected from its power source and then darkness is always there ready to take over. If we have the Holy Spirit present in our life it forces the sinful nature of the flesh to be addressed and eliminated. But when we make life choices that lead us away from God and don\u2019t stay connected to the Source (God) our sinful nature is always there, ready to take over. We can try and fight it on our own strength but that\u2019s kind of like trying to light a city with a single candle on a windy day.
