In the Beginning was the Word….and the Word was God.

Good Morning!

In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself.  -John 1:1

What I love about this verse is that it reminds us that when reading the Bible (the Word) we are directly in communication with God. That is why it is so important that we revere it as such and that we don’t take away from it or take it completely out of context. The Bible also says that God is love so when we use the Bible as a weapon against someone it is using it out of context. In the Bible we see a lot of different ways that God is love but in every context He works for the betterment of the people. When we use the Bible as an avenue to set someone on the straight and narrow, depending on how it is done, may turn them away from the Bible and from God. The Bible can and should be used for correction but oftentimes that correction comes when we spend time reading and studying the Bible on a regular basis. Gospel means “good news” so when we are sharing the Gospel are we treating it as such? I know there are differing opinions on this subject but all in all, what really matters is, what is our heart posture behind it when sharing scripture? How is the Holy Spirit prompting us to share it?

“We must allow the Word of God to confront us, to disturb our security, to undermine our complacency, and to overthrow our patterns of thought and behavior.”  -John Scott

“The best way to gain wisdom is by applying God’s Word to your life.”
