Hope Does Not Disappoint Us

Good Morning!

Such hope [in God’s promises] never disappoints us, because God’s love has been abundantly poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.  -Romans 5:5

‘Such hope’ is referring to just a couple verses before this one where it says that we can rejoice in the hope and confident assurance of the Glory of God. And then it says that we should take joy in our sufferings and hardships knowing that out of that will grow us to a more mature character and endurance in our faith. When we rely on God through our sufferings and hardships that is often when He feels the closest, and like the above verse says when we place our hope in God’s promises, He will never disappoint us, and through the Holy Spirit we are able to experience God’s love poured out on us first hand. Taking joy in our sufferings and hardships seems to be a bit backwards just hearing it but when you look at through these lens it can make sense. Looking at a hardship and knowing that you will come out on the other side stronger when we rely on God is a lot more encouraging than focusing on the hardship and letting it take you down. God will see you through it as long as you allow Him to work.

“With God life is an endless hope. Without God, life is a hopeless end.”  -Bill Bright

“There can be no hope without faith in Christ, for hope is rooted in Him alone. Faith without hope would, by itself, be empty and futile.”  -Ernest Hoffmann
