Pray in Faith – Few Words Are Needed

Good Morning!

And when you pray, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. So do not be like them [praying as they do]; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.  -Matthew 6:7-8

I catch myself praying just to check a box sometimes, not really paying attention to what I am saying and my mind is drifting somewhere else. I think that is what Jesus is referring to here when He said meaningless repetition. I also love how the second verse says that the Father knows what we need before we even ask Him. Why then do we need to pray? Relationship. We cannot have relationship with someone without spending time with them, without exchanging words, without being engaged in conversation. It is no different with God, He desires relationship with us and therefore we need to have engaging conversations with Him (prayer), we need to spend time with Him-not just say a prayer that checks a box that has no engagement behind it. When we pray with engagement and passion, change will happen, breakthrough will happen, fulfillment will be realized. Pray.

“Prayer need not be an activity we engage in for only an hour each morning. Rather, let us live in the atmosphere of prayer, our hearts continually being lifted up in prayer to Him.”

“Never doubt what one prayer can do.”
