Therefore, be continually on the alert—for you do not know when the master of the house is coming, whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning— [stay alert,] in case he should come suddenly and unexpectedly and find you asleep and unprepared. We never know what tomorrow holds. It is easy to say, “Tomorrow, (or next week, or next month) I will get serious about my faith, I will start praying, I will start reading the Bible, I will start going to church, etc.” Let’s not put it off until tomorrow, let’s get serious today. It doesn’t have to be complicated, but it must be intentional. We can start praying right now, we can set a time each day to read a chapter of the Bible, we can carve out a couple hours on this coming Sunday to go to church and build community with other believers. Once we get serious about our faith, God will direct our next steps, God will show us the way forward. Sometimes when we start thinking of taking that step its easy to focus on what we are giving up, but God will replace that tenfold if we get serious about our relationship with Jesus. The joy, fulfillment, and comfort that comes from a relationship with Jesus is not achieved through any other means, there truly is nothing like it.
How can I pray for you today? If you don’t have a church home and you don’t know where to start, please reach out by replying to this email and I will do all I can to help you find one. No one church is perfect because they are made up of imperfect people. We don’t go to the gym because we are in perfect physical condition but because we want to get in better physical shape. Same with church, we don’t go because we are perfect, we go because we want to learn about and become more like Jesus.
