Good Morning!
Peter replied to Him, “Though they all fall away because of You [and doubt and disown You], I will never fall away!” Jesus said to him, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, this night, before a rooster crows, you will [completely] deny Me three times.” Peter said to Jesus, “Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!” And all the disciples said the same thing. -Matthew 26:33-35 AMP
This was leading up to Jesus persecution as He was warning them of the hard couple days ahead of them. Peter’s response I don’t think is that much different from what ours would have been in that situation, in fact the verse ends with the fact that all the other disciples said the same thing. While Peter stuck in closer proximity than any of the other disciples through Jesus’ persecution, he too ended up deserting Jesus in the most crucial time because of the fear and unknown. The beautiful part is that the disciples were all given a chance to rekindle that relationship and not let that be the end of their story. If we get to a place that we feel like we have gone beyond God’s reach and that what we have done is unforgivable, we need to remind ourselves that God’s reach is far greater than any evil and His redemption is far bigger than the sin we have done. Our sin doesn’t have to be the end of our faith story, redemption is waiting.
