Humility, Prayer, Repentance

Good Morning!

Then the Lord appeared to Solomon by night and said to him: “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. If I shut up the heavens so that no rain falls, or if I command locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence and plague among My people, and My people, who are called by My Name, humble themselves, and pray and seek (crave, require as a necessity) My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear [them] from heaven, and forgive their sin and heal their land.”  -2 Chronicles 7:12-14 AMP

God hears our prayers and God is in control. How often do we get wrapped up in thinking we have to do it all ourselves, that the success of the world (or at least our world), depends solely on us? We don’t control our world, but what I take from the verses above, is that if we humble ourselves and we seek God in a spirit of yearning to draw closer to God, then God will most definitely meet us there. If we choose to walk in our own way and control our own destiny, I think we will find that we don’t have any more control and are way more miserable. To me these verses bring comfort, surety, and peace knowing that God’s got this. What are these verses saying to you? How do they make you feel?

“While it looks like things are out of control, behind the scenes there is a God who hasn’t surrendered His authority.”  -A.W. Tozer

“When you go through a trial, the sovereignty of God is the pillow upon which you lay your head.”  -Charles Spurgeon
