Good Morning!
So if I, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you ought to wash one another’s feet as well. For I gave you [this as] an example, so that you should do [in turn] as I did to you. -John 13:14-15 AMP
Jesus modeled us the way to humility. He was not worried about status, He was not worried about leading change in a different way. It is so easy to compare ourselves to others to gauge where we are at on the status level. It is tempting to work to get to a point where we no longer do certain things but instead have someone else do them for us. There is nothing wrong to have things done for us but it is the heart posture behind it that makes the difference. If we consider ourselves too good to do that thing, it’s a problem. If we consider ourselves better than the people doing that thing, it’s a problem. Jesus was willing and did the lowliest job of His day, washing feet. That was the job of a servant, not a King, not a Messiah, not God, but yet He did it anyway in order to show us how to lead, how to be humble, and how to bless others. What is your “washing of feet” that you can do today? In what way can you follow His example?
