Patience & a Calm Spirit

Good Morning!

By patience and a calm spirit a ruler may be persuaded, and a soft and gentle tongue breaks the bone [of resistance].   -Proverbs 25:15

Taking the time to have a conversation about a problem and having a dialogue on explaining why something needs to be the way it is, or why you have come to the conclusion that you have goes over much better than demanding things be certain way without explaining the why. A lot of times our emotions, either nervousness or anger, can get in the way and we tend to be short and sweet and not explain where we are coming from. Oftentimes offense is created from not explaining your point of view properly. Having the door open for dialogue (back and forth conversation between two people) and being patient in your conversation can reduce the chance of offense. Oftentimes conversations will look completely different than we anticipate if we just take the time to listen. This applies to pretty much every situation including employer to employee, employee to employer, between spouses, parent to child, child to parent, between co-workers, etc.; no matter what side of the conversation we are on we can apply this.

“Years later it might not be the words they remember, but the way the conversation made them feel.”

“Patience is not passive, on the contrary, it is concentrated strength.”  -Bruce Lee

Dad Joke of the Day:

The word queue is ironic.

It’s just a ‘q’ with a bunch of silent letters waiting in a line.

Have a great Friday!
