Refuel

She will give birth to a Son, and you shall name Him Jesus (The Lord is salvation), for He will save His people from their sins.   -Matthew 1:21

In honor of Christmas I wanted to share verses that surround the birth of Jesus leading up to Christmas Day. Christmas is a time of celebration and a time to reflect on the blessings in your life. One of those blessings is that Jesus was born a baby and grew up to be the man that we should all strive to be. There was not an ounce of selfishness in Him and everything He did was geared towards other people. That doesn’t mean that we should run ourselves ragged trying to serve other people, but serving other people should be our main focus. We do need some time though to refuel, so we can have the stamina to last the marathon of life; Jesus took time to go to remote places by Himself to refuel and so should we. One thing about this verse that jumped out at me was that Jesus was here to save us from our sins; I have heard the argument made that sin is what God decides it to be but I would argue that sin is what brings darkness and it is through sin that we have decline. Jesus gave His life in order for us to experience light and restoration.

“How can we love sin, when we remember that because of our sins Jesus died.”  -J.C. Ryle

“Jesus didn’t escape death; He conquered it and opened the way to Heaven for all who will dare to believe.”  -Steven James

Dad Joke of the Day:

What’s the best Christmas present?

A broken drum…you just can’t beat it.

Have a great Thursday!
