James 3:2

Good Morning!

Power of the Tongue Series

For we all stumble and sin in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says [never saying the wrong thing], he is a perfect man [fully developed in character, without serious flaws], able to bridle his whole body and rein in his entire nature [taming his human faults and weaknesses].  -James 3:2

Are any of us able to say this, that we are a perfect person, never saying the wrong thing? The thing of it is that what we say we do have control over, but I think everyone has said things that they then regretted saying either right as they said it or sometime later. There are also times where we should say something encouraging and we choose to stay silent. Most of the times when we say things we regret it is either out of emotion or the it is from the self talk that we give ourselves that then spills out of our mouth. Are we ever going to reach a point where we have complete perfection in what comes out of our mouth? Probably not, but that should be no reason to not try. The power of words is not something that we should take lightly, but something that should be used for the furtherment of the Kingdom of God.

“Remember not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult still, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.”  -Benjamin Franklin

“Diplomacy is more than saying or doing the right things at the right time, it is avoiding saying or doing the wrong things at any time.”  -Bo Bennett

Dad Joke of the Day:

Father: “The man named Lot was warned to take his wife and flee out of the city, but she looked back and turned into a pillar of salt.”

Son: “What happened to the flea?”

Have a great Thursday!
