Good Morning!
For every species of beasts and birds, of reptiles and sea creatures, is tamed and has been tamed by the human race. But no one can tame the human tongue; it is a restless evil [undisciplined, unstable], full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God. -James 3:7-9
I take this as a reminder that we are responsible for what comes out of our mouth. We both bless and we curse with the same mouth, tongue, and mind. No person is in control over an other person’s words, we can not make someone say something or not say something, but we are in control of and are responsible for our own words. Gossiping is a form of cursing someone and I think everyone has fallen into the trap of gossiping; not all gossiping looks the same and when we make a negative comment or innuendo towards someone it is a form of gossiping. We cannot pick and choose what counts and doesn’t count, if we want our prayers to God to count then all other words that come out of our mouth count as well. The way to change that is to start to recognize when we are doing it and repent and work towards changing our thought pattern in reaction to outside influences since the gossip starts in our thoughts. Change your thoughts, change your life.
“Gossip dies when it hits a wise person’s ears.”
“If you gossip to a friend what keeps that friend from thinking that you don’t gossip about them?”
“When you are tempted to gossip about someone, pray for them instead.”
Dad Joke of the Day:
Did you know that a candle’s flame smells like burned nose hair?
Have a great Tuesday!
