Proverbs 14:30

Good Morning!

A calm and peaceful and tranquil heart is life and health to the body, but passion and envy are like rottenness to the bones.  -Proverbs 14:30

When we are in Christ and live through the guidance of the Holy Spirit we can have calm and peace in our life, not to mention it is better for our physical health. That means we trust in God and are happy with what He has blessed us with…we are content. Does that mean that life is all roses and rainbows? Absolutely not. We might still have busyness of life and stress of deadlines but we can have a confidence in Christ through all that, our identity is not in what we do but it is in Christ. Now on the flip side of that, when we are always passionately jealous of what others have, when we are always comparing ourselves to others and focus on what they have and what we don’t have, that is when we become miserable. If we are always focusing on material things, that is when we will struggle in our character. Envy and jealousy have a way of, like the verse states above, creating rottenness deep down to our bones. One of the enemy’s greatest tools is comparison and it starts when we are very young and is something we have to battle our entire life. When we catch ourselves comparing to someone else, let’s focus on our blessings and what we are grateful for in our life, and focus on God.

“Jealousy is when you count someone else’s blessings instead of your own.”  -Ray T. Bennett

“Jealousy is, I think, the worst of all faults because it makes a victim of both parties.”  -Gene Tierney

Dad Joke of the Day:

Why did the old man fall down the well?

Because he couldn’t see that well.

Have a great Tuesday!
