Good Morning!
Now while they were on their way, Jesus entered a village [called Bethany], and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. She had a sister named Mary, who seated herself at the Lord’s feet and was continually listening to His teaching. But Martha was very busy and distracted with all of her serving responsibilities; and she approached Him and said, “Lord, is it of no concern to You that my sister has left me to do the serving alone? Tell her to help me and do her part.” But the Lord replied to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered and anxious about so many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which will not be taken away from her.” -Luke 10:38-42
How many times do we get caught up in doing the ‘proper’ thing like Martha was doing and we forget to cultivate our relationship with God? It says that Mary was sitting at the Lord’s feet and continually listening to His teaching. Too often we are busy in our lives with jobs, kid’s events, social events, etc. and we get caught up in doing that and forget to cultivate what is the most important, our faith. Being busy in our lives is not a bad thing but we can do both, we can be busy as long as we leave space for cultivating our faith and our relationship with God. Jesus said about Mary that she chose the good part, that good thing was growing her knowledge in her faith and not getting caught up in all the ‘things’ to do. What can you change today that makes more space for God and cultivating your faith?
