Spiritual Gift

Good Morning!

Do not neglect the spiritual gift within you, [that special endowment] which was intentionally bestowed on you [by the Holy Spirit] through prophetic utterance when the elders laid their hands on you [at your ordination]. Practice and work hard on these things; be absorbed in them [completely occupied in your ministry], so that your progress will be evident to all.  -1 Timothy 4:14-15

What are you good at? Or what is your spiritual gift? Whatever it is, my guess is that it can be used to glorify God. Maybe it’s not what you are good at but what your passion is and you want to get good at it and use it to glorify God. Whatever it is, practice and work hard at it, let yourself be absorbed in it so that God can be glorified through it. God gave each of us unique talents and circumstances and if we pursue God in them He will open doors on how to use them to glorify Him. It might not look like anything or anyone else, but rarely do the people that have the most impact sound and act like everyone else, that is the awesomeness of God. Just because God gave you the gift doesn’t mean it will come easy, like anything precious it needs to be cleaned up and refined and that comes from the pursuit of God and practice. What steps are you taking today to progress what God has gifted you with?

“Never equate spiritual gifts with spiritual maturity. The presence of one does not ensure the presence of the other.”

“Our gifts are very pleasant to Him. He loves to see us lay our time, our talents, our substance  on the altar not for the value of what we give, but for the sake of the motive from which the gift springs.”  -Charles Spurgeon
