Knowing God

Good Morning!

The [reverent] fear of the Lord [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] is the beginning and the preeminent part of wisdom [its starting point and its essence], and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding and spiritual insight.  -Proverbs 9:10

Knowing God and being rooted in Him gives us truth to hang on to. When we don’t have that we will tend to rely on worldly wisdom and worldly wisdom has no foundation and therefore has no parameters. God is absolute truth which is what determines morals and right and wrong and when there is no absolute truth you can argue anything to be true because there is no baseline. The awesome thing that always encourages me and is fascinating to me is when we are living in God’s truth, we are the healthiest in mind, body, and spirit. As we wander off from the absolute truth we often are miserable in one or all three of those categories. The Old Testament hygiene rules that God introduced that seem irrelevant to today were actually one of the first if not the first form of hygiene put in practice and what we know today now shows that they were way ahead of their time in preventing the spread of diseases. God is wisdom and when we are plugged into Him, He shares that wisdom with us.

“Wisdom comes to the heart that is hungry for God. Wisdom is what God gives to the man who forsakes his sin and turns to his Savior.”  -A.W. Tozer

“As the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, so the denial of God is the height of foolishness.”  -R.C. Sproul

Dad Joke of the Day:

Wife: What is the best time to…

Husband: 6:30

Wife: You didn’t let me finish.

Husband: It doesn’t matter. 6:30 is always the best time on the clock. Hands down.

Have a great Tuesday!
