Be Lovers of God

Good Morning!

But understand this, that in the last days dangerous times [of great stress and trouble] will come [difficult days that will be hard to bear]. For people will be lovers of self [narcissistic, self-focused], lovers of money [impelled by greed], boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy and profane, [and they will be] unloving [devoid of natural human affection, calloused and inhumane], irreconcilable, malicious gossips, devoid of self-control [intemperate, immoral], brutal, haters of good, traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of [sensual] pleasure rather than lovers of God.  -2 Timothy 3:1-4

I encourage everyone to read the whole chapter of 2 Timothy chapter 3. When I read this description of what Paul is saying that people will be like, I have to think we have all seen instances of all of these in the news and some of us have experienced them first hand. This is my perception/opinion… I think this is a result of generations of lukewarm faith where every generation drifts further away from God as priority. I am not referring to material things but to our faith and living our lives as if God is number one in our life. When we make other things priority in our life over God that takes some of our focus somewhere else and then the enemy loves to whisper doubt in our ear and we just continue to take it further. Our kids see what we do way more than what we say and then the enemy convinces them to go a bit further off track. The awesome part is…that can all change in an instant, one generation can turn all that around. We all have the ability to make God number one in our lives and head our families in the right direction, to become lovers of God.  Are we headed in the right direction? If so, keep fighting, because it is a battle to swim upstream. If not, what changes can we make today to turn the ship around?

“Make your relationship with God your number one focus. Know that if you take care of that God will take care of everything else.”

“Resolution One: I will live for God. Resolution Two: If no one else does, I still will.”  -Jonathan Edwards

Dad Joke of the Day:

Johnny: Have you ever tried blindfolded archery?

Timmy: I can’t say that I have.

Johnny: You don’t know what you’re missing.

Have a great Monday!
