Acts 1:6-11

Good Morning!

So when they had come together, they asked Him repeatedly, “Lord, are You at this time reestablishing the kingdom and restoring it to Israel?” He said to them, “It is not for you to know the times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority. But you will receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses [to tell people about Me] both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth.” And after He said these things, He was caught up as they looked on, and a cloud took Him up out of their sight. While they were looking intently into the sky as He was going, two men in white clothing suddenly stood beside them, who said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This [same] Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will return in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”  -Acts 1:6-11

Today is Ascension Day, today is the day we remember as Jesus ascending to heaven. It’s a good day for us to remember just how significant it was how everything played out. Had Jesus not come and died for us, we would still be living in Old Testament law, had He not rose from the grave death would not be defeated, had He not ascended to heaven we would not have access to the Holy Spirit. Everything that happened was to make it better for us, to give us the ability to glean off of Jesus’ suffering and victory. Are we using what was done for us and given to us? Evil was defeated the day Jesus rose from the grave but it is a very poor loser and is trying everything to convince us we have no power. We do, through Jesus and with the help of the Holy Spirit, live in that victory!

“At His Ascension our Lord entered Heaven, and He keeps the door open for humanity to enter.”  -Oswald Chambers

“Trying to do the Lord’s work in your own strength is the most confusing, exhausting, and tedious of all work. But when you are filled with the Holy Spirit then the ministry of Jesus just flows out of you.”  -Corrie Ten Boom

Dad Joke of the Day:

Johnny: Beverly doesn’t want to date me after learning I only have 9 toes…

Timmy: What?! Why?

Johnny: It’s true, Timmy, she’s lack toes intolerant.

Have a great Thursday!
