Good Afternoon!
And below is today’s Devo from Ted!
If in fact you have [really] heard Him and have been taught by Him, just as truth is in Jesus [revealed in His life and personified in Him], that, regarding your previous way of life, you put off your old self [completely discard your former nature], which is being corrupted through deceitful desires, and be continually renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh, untarnished mental and spiritual attitude], and put on the new self [the regenerated and renewed nature], created in God’s image, [godlike] in the righteousness and holiness of the truth [living in a way that expresses to God your gratitude for your salvation]. -Ephesians 4:21-24
This is pretty cut and dry…and powerful! Too many times we want the benefits of Jesus and what He brings to our life but still dabble in our old lifestyle to satisfy our fleshly/sinful desires. Often times we show by our fruit in life what our relationship with God is like. This is a daily battle and, like it says in the verse above, it is a continual renewing of the mind. The enemy loves to wage war on our thoughts and will try every angle to break through the armor, but if we can stay focused on God and continually renew our thoughts in Christ and focus only on the truth, we will win that war. Let’s not let the enticement of sin get the best of us and let’s not think we can fulfill our sinful desires while still having an intimate relationship with God. Battle on! God’s got you!
“We do not segment our lives, giving some time to God, some to our business or schooling, while keeping parts to ourselves. The idea is to live all of our lives in the presence of God, under the authority of God, and for the honor and glory of God. That is what the Christian life is all about.” -R.C. Sproul
Dad Joke of the Day:
What do you get if you cross a pig with an evergreen tree?
A porky pine.
