Do Not Judge, or You Too Will Be Judged

Good Morning!

Do not judge and criticize and condemn [others unfairly with an attitude of self-righteous superiority as though assuming the office of a judge], so that you will not be judged [unfairly]. For just as you [hypocritically] judge others [when you are sinful and unrepentant], so will you be judged; and in accordance with your standard of measure [used to pass out judgment], judgment will be measured to you. -Matthew 7:1-2

This is easier said than done. Too often we are looking at someone’s situation from our perspective without knowing all the details and judging accordingly. I know for a fact that it doesn’t feel good getting judged, especially by someone you know doesn’t know or understand all the facts. Oftentimes when we treat people with respect we will get respect in return, when we treat people with no respect we rarely get respect in return. Same goes for judgement, when we are passing judgement on others, chances are, you will be judged as well. When we are judging others we are putting ourselves in the position of Jesus who will be the ultimate judge and none of us have the credentials to live up to that. The other thing is, when we openly judge someone there is a good chance we are giving, either the person on the receiving end or someone observing, a bad taste in their mouth of Christianity. Let us guard our words as we go into our day.

“Those who spend their time looking for faults in others, usually spend no time to correct their own.”

“When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself.”  -Wayne Dyer
