Good Morning!
But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who [are not financially ethical and] crave to get rich [with a compulsive, greedy longing for wealth] fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction [leading to personal misery]. -1 Timothy 6:8-9
Financial health should not be our top focus, our faith should be our top focus. It is so easy to get drawn into putting all of our focus on career and money to where we don’t have time for our faith or our faith only gets our leftovers. When we make money our main focus, we tend to do foolish things and often will cross the line into doing unethical things because that is our only focus and integrity is thrown out the window. Is having a lot of money a sin? Absolutely not, but what is the why in our life, what is our motivation behind making the money we do, and how are we using the money? If our why is just to get rich we are in for an empty, unfulfilling life. God desires us to have fulfillment and when we don’t make money the focus we will be surprised at how God provides when we are operating in His will.
“I think everyone should get rich and famous and do everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that it’s not the answer.” -Jim Carrey
“Being rich is not the same as being successful.”
Dad Joke of the Day:
My five year old: Do trees poop?
Me: Of course, that’s how we get Number 2 pencils.
Have a great Monday!
