Remind Me That My Days Are Numbered

Good Morning!

Lord, let me know my [life’s] end and [to appreciate] the extent of my days; let me know how frail I am [how transient is my stay here]. Behold, You have made my days as [short as] hand widths, and my lifetime is as nothing in Your sight. Surely every man at his best is a mere breath [a wisp of smoke, a vapor that vanishes]!  -Psalms 39:4-5

This is such a good reminder that our lives are but a fleeting moment. In the big view of human existence we are such a small portion, a breath of existence. This is a good reminder that living our lives for our personal agenda only, is really a life lived in vain. To work for only ourselves and to try and build something that will be a legacy based on purely what we have accomplished, will lead to emptiness and futility. But when we live for Christ and we pour our lives into the bigger purpose of His Kingdom we can experience something that is bigger than ourselves, something fulfilling, something that can have multiplication like nothing we could have fabricated on our own. Through Christ and in Christ we can do things far greater than anything we could have ever imagined and by no means will it ever be boring. It will not be futile, and it will stretch us, grow and mature us, and it will help us realize that we cannot do everything on our own and by trying to do that is making it about ourselves. We are designed to do be part of God’s bigger purpose, and we are each uniquely designed to play a part in God’s purpose but when we make it about ourselves, we are robbing the world of greatness of God’s work through us.

“God has a plan. Trust it, live it, enjoy it.”

“Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, leave the rest to God.”  -Ronald Reagan

“The Bible is there to enable God’s people to be equipped to do God’s work in God’s world, not to give them an excuse to sit back smugly, knowing they possess all God’s truth.”  -N.T. Wright

Dad Joke of the Day:

I tried doing 100 sit-ups but I didn’t finish.

My stomach couldn’t handle that kind of ab use.

Have a great Tuesday!
