Revere Christ as Lord

Good Morning!

But in your hearts set Christ apart [as holy—acknowledging Him, giving Him first place in your lives] as Lord. Always be ready to give a [logical] defense to anyone who asks you to account for the hope and confident assurance [elicited by faith] that is within you, yet [do it] with gentleness and respect.  -1 Peter 3:15

This is so good. We are to set Christ apart as holy, as Lord, in our hearts. We are to be ready to answer with hope and confidence on why we believe and live the way we do, but when we answer we are do so with gentleness and respect. Couple things that come to my mind when reading this. One, in order for people to notice that we don’t believe the same as the world we have to be strong enough in our belief that we are living it out for people to even take notice. Two, if we do get questioned that we are ready to explain it, not in a condescending way but with gentleness and respect. God doesn’t want us to be self-righteous and go forcefully share the gospel, He wants us to go about as Jesus did, to be gentle, to live life with them, and help them in that way. Is Christ set apart as holy in your heart? Are you ready, if someone questions you, to answer what you believe in and do so with gentleness and respect?

“Preach the Gospel always, if necessary use words.”

“Sharing the Gospel is not about proving that we are right and they are wrong.”

Dad Joke of the Day:
