Happy Thursday!
Such is the confidence and steadfast reliance and absolute trust that we have through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficiently qualified in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency and qualifications come from God. He has qualified us [making us sufficient] as ministers of a new covenant [of salvation through Christ], not of the letter [of a written code] but of the Spirit; for the letter [of the Law] kills [by revealing sin and demanding obedience], but the Spirit gives life. -2 Corinthians 3:4-6
Through Christ we can gain a confident reliance toward God. It is through Christ that we even come close to qualify to be in relationship with God. We, on our own, don’t have the qualifications for salvation, it is only through Christ and His qualifications that can have salvation. The last part of the above verses touch on the difference between the Old Testament law and the current privilege of being Spirit led. The Law was an important step in God showing the Israelites how to live, how to be set apart from the rest of the world, and was way ahead of it’s time in rituals that we know today as being part of good hygiene among other things. But today we have the amazing privilege to have access to the Holy Spirit and allowing Him to guide us in a way that the Old Testament people did not have. We can have an intimate relationship with God Himself, and that is up to us and there is nobody that can stand in our way of that because our relationship is in the spiritual realm and not in the physical realm. What steps will you take today to draw closer to Him? The growth of your relationship with God is limitless.
“Communion of the Holy Spirit is for everyone, not only for the spiritual elite.”
“The Father promises us the Holy Spirit so He can take us into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ- not into religion or a list of rules or a format.” -John Ramirez
