Good Morning!
“Is not My word like fire?” says the Lord, “And like a hammer that breaks the [most stubborn] rock [in pieces]?” -Jeremiah 23:29
There is a lot of power, influence, and benefits to reading the Bible on a regular basis. God’s Word is the sword of truth. I like how the above verse states that it is also fire and a hammer. All three of these are such great analogies. Fire is always hungry for more and when you get that hunger for the Word of God it just intensifies the more you spend time in it. The way to light that flame is to start spending time in the Bible. The hammer analogy can be used to squash and break apart the lies and untruth that we get attacked with everyday. It can also be used like they use it when mining for gold where they use a hammer to chip away all the dirt to get to the gold, the treasure. Sometimes we have to chip through the “dirt” to get to the Truth. And in other parts of the Bible the Word of God is referred to as the sword. The sword is used in battle, in warfare. There again the Bible can be used to defend ourselves in battle and slay the lies of the enemy. Again, the Word of God has power, it has influence that you can carry with you, and there are lots of benefits that come with studying and allowing It to work through you.
“There is nothing ahead of you that is bigger or stronger than the Power of God behind you.”
“So great are the effectiveness and power of the Word of God that the more it is persecuted the more it flourishes and grows.” -Martin Luther
