Prayer

Good Morning!

Be persistent and devoted to prayer, being alert and focused in your prayer life with an attitude of thanksgiving.  -Colossians 4:2

When I get in a slump in life where I am not in a good head space it is easy to just pray demands at God and then get frustrated when things don’t seem to get better. But when we pray with with an attitude of thanksgiving we are in a completely different mindset and have a lot better outlook. Being in an attitude of thanksgiving draws us closer to God and opens up our mind to the more important things in life, things that really matter. When you are having a hard day take some time to reflect on everything you can be thankful for in your life and watch your day turn for the better. Another thing I wanted to note from this verse is that we are to be persistent and devoted to prayer, to be alert, and to stay focused. Prayer is not designed to be an afterthought, but an active way of life. It is ok, even good, to be persistent on something in prayer, the verse above says we are to be just that. Don’t back off on prayer, ever. The enemy loves to occupy our minds with all kinds of things to keep our mind off of prayer, and then when we do pray the enemy constantly wants to make us believe that we are doing it wrong, asking for the wrong thing, or that we aren’t heard. Just know that God hears your heart in whatever way or language you want to communicate with Him.

“To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing.”  -Martin Luther

“Satan cannot deny but that great wonders have been wrought by prayer. As the spirit of prayer goes up, so his kingdom goes down.”  -William Gurnall

Dad Joke of the Day:

My boss accused me of never taking him seriously.

“I don’t agree with that,” I told him.

He said, “Can I see you in my office?”

I said, “Depends if the lights are on.”

Have a great Friday and amazing weekend!
