Good Morning!
Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in [union with] Him [reflecting His character in the things you do and say—living lives that lead others away from sin], having been deeply rooted [in Him] and now being continually built up in Him and [becoming increasingly more] established in your faith, just as you were taught, and overflowing in it with gratitude. -Colossians 2:6-7
As we grow in our faith our roots in Christ will grow deeper and out of those deeper roots come more nutrition that will then produce more fruit. That fruit is what this verse is referring to, our fruit should overflow onto the people around us. Being deeply rooted in our faith helps us withstand the winds and storms of life and keeps us from being uprooted. If you have noticed, a forest can withstand high winds a lot better than a lone tree, it is no different with us in that if we are part of a church family we have a lot better chance to withstand the storms. We need each other and if you haven’t plugged in somewhere at a church, I encourage you to do so.
“Where there is a rotten root, there will always be rotten fruit. We must be rooted in Jesus Christ.” -Joyce Meyer
“The whole basis for our relationship with God is rooted and grounded in grace, in that which is not earned.” -R.C. Sproul
Dad Joke of the Day:
My wife asked me if I had seen the dog bowl.
I replied with, “I didn’t know he did.”
