Good Morning!

For what does it benefit a man to gain the whole world [with all its pleasures], and forfeit his soul?  -Mark 8:36

What are we pursuing in life? I don’t think this verse is stating that you should give up your career or give up your things, but more that you should check your heart posture behind it. If your only goal in life is to reach a certain social status, or financial status then I think that is what this verse is referring to. When we focus on our social and financial status greed enters our lives and we are focused on ‘me’. Our focus needs to be on God and living in a way that honors Him through our words and actions, I don’t think it matters what career we choose as long as our focus remains on God.
