Good Morning!
When they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and one on the left. And Jesus was saying, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots, dividing His clothes among themselves. Now the people stood by, watching; but even the rulers ridiculed and sneered at Him, saying, “He saved others [from death]; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed) of God, His Chosen One.” The soldiers also mocked Him, coming up to Him and [cruelly] offering Him sour wine, and sarcastically saying, “If you are [really] the King of the Jews, save Yourself [from death]!” -Luke 23:33-37
He was beaten, He was whipped, He was mocked, and He was crucified…not because He deserved it but because of His overwhelming love for you and for me. He opened up the pathway to salvation and a promise to heaven, in fact He became the pathway into heaven. He died one of the most gruesome deaths and He knew beforehand what He was facing, and knowing all that He still chose to follow the Father’s will. Why? Because of you and because of me. Today is Good Friday and marks the day that this happened, let’s remember it for what it is and live in gratefulness today. Jesus’ whole purpose while He was here on earth was to bring redemption and to live a life model that we can follow. Does our purpose in life line up with what He modeled? If not, what priorities do we need to change?
“Good Friday, a day to pause and reflect on God’s amazing grace.”
“Unless there is a Good Friday in your life, there can be no Easter Sunday.” -Fulton Sheen
