Two Things

Good Morning!

Two things I have asked of You; Do not deny them to me before I die: Keep deception and lies far from me; Give me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me with the food that is my portion, So that I will not be full and deny You and say, “Who is the Lord?” Or that I will not be poor and steal, And so profane the name of my God. -Proverbs 30:7-9

I love how this verse brings out the opposite parameters of the everyday struggles. Let us not be too rich in earthly possession that we think we got this and don’t need God and let us not hit poverty to where we steal to survive and in that way sin as well. I think both are relevant to everyday life and both are a matter of our mind posture. If we have plenty of money what is our mind posture? Do we thank God for the blessing that He has given us and ask His help in stewarding that money to help further His Kingdom or do we hold on to it with clenched fists and let it be consumed on only us? If we have no money, are we doing everything we can and trusting God to take care of us, or do we think we have to steal or cheat to stay afloat? These pitfalls can happen no matter what our money situation is, it is all in our mind posture surrounding it.

“He is rich or poor according to what he is, not according to what he has.” -Henry Ward Beecher

“Your mind will make you rich or poor, depending on the use you put it on.”

Dad Joke of the Day:

At the bank I told the cashier, “I’d like to open a joint account please.”

“Ok, with whom?”

“Whoever has lots of money.”

Have a great Thursday!
