Good Morning!
These are the things which you should do: speak the truth with one another; judge with truth and pronounce the judgment that brings peace in [the courts at] your gates. And let none of you devise or even imagine evil in your heart against another, and do not love lying or half-truths; for all these things I hate,’ declares the Lord. -Zechariah 8:16-17
Every solid foundation is based on truth. Every unstable foundation is based on half-truths and lies. So it is with our faith, if we focus on the truth always, on the things that we know are true, we can live our lives in such a way that we do not have to doubt what we are doing, we can have confidence in knowing that we are backed by the truth and most importantly, God. If we let half-truths and lies creep into our lives we have to try and keep track of all that and instead of focusing on what God is wanting us to do we are wasting our time trying to keep all of our lies and half-truths straight. Keep it simple, stick to the truth and do what you know is right. As the verse above states: God HATES lying and half-truths.
“A half-truth masquerading as the whole truth becomes a complete untruth.” -J.J. Packer
“In the long run, the most unpleasant truth is a safer companion than a pleasant falsehood.” -Theodore Roosevelt
