Forgiveness Will Set You Free

Good Morning!

Then Peter came to Him and asked, “Lord, how many times will my brother sin against me and I forgive him and let it go? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered him, “I say to you, not up to seven times, but seventy times seven.  -Matthew 18:21-22

This is a hard ask, doesn’t God understand how much they were in the wrong and how much they hurt me!? God does understand, He really understands, because that is what He does to us all the time, we hurt Him constantly in our sinful nature yet when we turn around and ask for forgiveness He is willing to forgive us all over again. On the flip side, what good does it do to harbor resentment and unforgiveness? When we choose to forgive we are releasing ourselves from the burden and weight of carrying that resentment. Resentment gets hard and is heavy to carry and it robs you of the joy in life that you are designed to have. So in a lot of ways, choosing to forgive over and over is benefiting us more than it is them. What load of resentment do you have to unload today? Who do you need forgive? How can I pray for your situation?

“Forgiveness is a strange thing. It can sometimes be easier to forgive your enemies than our friends. It is hardest of all to forgive people we love.”  -Fred Rogers

“Sometimes the person you need to forgive is yourself. If God can forgive you why not forgive yourself?”
