Leave the Way Open

Good Morning!

Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave the way open for God’s wrath [and His judicial righteousness]; for it is written [in Scripture], “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. “But if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for by doing this you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome and conquered by evil, but overcome evil with good.  -Romans 12:19-21

Our tendency oftentimes when someone hurts us is to get them back, to get even. What if, instead, we showed them nothing but kindness and let God take care of the vengeance as He sees fit? What if we all did our part in overcoming evil with goodness? If something happens we should do our best to let it roll off of us and to keep going and to still be kind to the person that is trying to hurt us. Oftentimes that person will feel guilty or bad for what they have done where otherwise, if you got mad at them, they wouldn’t. As the saying goes….kill it with kindness.

“Kindness to others robs you of nothing. Indifference and disdain of others will suck you dry.”

“No use fanning up hot coals when you have to walk across them.”  -Bernard Malamud
