Good Morning!
You are the light of [Christ to] the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in heaven. -Matthew 5:14-16
Imagine a dark night outside and off in the distance you see a light but you can’t quite make out what it is. You are tempted to go look to see what it is. Depending on the night and the terrain, a small light can be seen for miles. We are all attracted to light, it is our human tendency. There is no mistake that Jesus compared us to a city set on a hill, if we shine our light people will be attracted to that light and we then have the opportunity to bring glory to God through the light He shines through us. In a day where everything is battery operated and needs to stay charged up in order to work, we are no different, we need to plug into God and get charged up on a regular basis to shine our light bright. We can do that by reading and studying God’s Word and spending time in conversation with God.
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” -Martin Luther King Jr.
“As we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.” -Marianne Williamson
Dad Joke of the Day:
Just got kicked out of the secret cooking society.
I spilled the beans.
Have a great Tuesday! Shine the light!
