There is no fear in love [dread does not exist]. But perfect (complete, full-grown) love drives out fear, because fear involves [the expectation of divine] punishment, so the one who is afraid [of God’s judgment] is not perfected in love [has not grown into a sufficient understanding of God’s love]. -1 John 4:18
Fear is based from evil. Normally things we are afraid of are because something has happened, either to us or someone we heard of, that is originated from evil intentions. Love is the opposite of fear and the opposite of evil, so there is no fear in perfect love. So if we can continually grow our relationship with God and continue to increase our faith, we can use God’s perfect love to drive out the fear that we might harbor within us. Now, that might be easier said than done but it can be done nonetheless, but only through God and His perfect love….
