Accept Correction

Good Morning!

Listen to counsel, receive instruction, and accept correction, that you may be wise in the time to come. -Proverbs 19:20

I enjoy listening to counsel, depending on the situation I am more than fine receiving instruction, but correction never feels good and is never enjoyable. But like the verse states above, we need to be accepting of correction, no matter how uncomfortable it is, or we will not become the man or woman that God desires us to be. If we always refuse correction and never self-reflect we create for ourselves an island that we are the only resident of. We will not grow in wisdom if we can not accept correction, we will become unapproachable and undesirable to hang out with. Correction can come from multiple different directions, it can come from a parent, it might come from one of our children, maybe our boss, maybe a co-worker, spouse, and most importantly….God. Natural tendency is to get defensive and it takes conscience effort to be open to it and not respond in negative way. Are we going to blow it off, or are we going to be open to listen to it and self-reflect?

Dad Joke of the Day:

Pulled out a nose hair today to see if it hurt….

Judging by the reaction of the man asleep next to me on the bus, it seems pretty painful…

Have a great Monday!
