John 21:21-23

Good Morning!

So when Peter saw him, he asked Jesus, “Lord, and what about this man [what is in his future]?” Jesus said to him, “If I want him to stay alive until I come [again], what is that to you? You follow Me!” So this word went out among the brothers that this disciple (John) was not going to die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he was not going to die, but only, “If I want him to stay alive until I come [again], what is that to you?”  -John 21:21-23

How many times are we Peter in this story? How many times do we get wrapped up in someone else’s life out of jealousy or in the name of ‘fairness’? I love Jesus’ response here and it’s such a good thing for us to remember in that we shouldn’t be worried about the other people unless we are called to do so. If we are only getting involved for selfish reasons then we need to catch ourselves and stay in our lane. What we see that happens next in this passage is so often what still happens today, people make assumptions from there and soon it becomes way bigger than it ever should have. We just need to remember that we are each on a journey of our own and it’s unique to us, let us focus on what is ours to focus on and realize that life sometimes isn’t fair from our perspective. One thing is for certain, if we focus on Jesus and our relationship with Him our perspective will be less self-centered and more aligned with His.

Dad Joke of the Day:

Yesterday I met a girl who runs a battery kiosk at our local park.

Yes, that’s right.

She sells C cells down by the seesaw!

Have a great Thursday!
