Jealousy and Selfishness

Good Morning!

For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder [unrest, rebellion] and every evil thing and morally degrading practice.  -James 3:16

How many times do we get wrapped up in comparing something of our own to someone else’s? Comparison will never turn out in the best way, you will either compare to someone or something that you feel you are better than or at and not live to your full potential because you are only worried about being better than them and therefore will only get better if they get better. (You should instead focus on the gifts and responsibilities that God has blessed you with and put the best foot forward no matter what.) Or you compare towards something that you want that you don’t have and therefore it becomes a consuming self-centered goal. God didn’t design us to be self-centered, because where self-centeredness exists is where evil exists. We are designed to work with each other for a bigger cause. What are you comparing to today that promotes being less than you could be? What are you comparing to today that puts you in a selfish mindset?

“Comparison is the thief of joy.”  -Theodore Roosevelt
