Good Morning!
For if anyone only listens to the word without obeying it, he is like a man who looks very carefully at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he immediately forgets what he looked like. -James 1:23-24
I think to make this even more relevant to today’s times is, are we going to church on Sunday and listening to the sermon, maybe even thinking to ourselves on the way home, “That was a great message” but then by midday through Monday we have forgotten or thought irrelevant what we just heard at church that weekend? We cannot just make God part of our Sunday and not part of our everyday life and then get upset when He doesn’t bless us as we think He should. Too many people try out Jesus half-heartedly, never actually going all in, and then when there doesn’t seem to be a big change, ditch the whole idea of religion. How many other relationships do we see flourish that we only give half-hearted effort, I would dare to say there are none that flourish with half-hearted effort. How can we expect it to be any different with God? If we want to experience life change then we need to go all in, God wants to be part of every detail of your life, not to judge you or condemn you but to help you flourish in your faith. Going back to the verse above, let’s look into that mirror and walk away remembering, and apply the Word to our everyday lives.
