Anger

Good Morning!

A [shortsighted] fool always loses his temper and displays his anger, but a wise man [uses self-control and] holds it back.  -Proverbs 29:11

Doesn’t reading this feel like a punch in the gut? I think we all have gotten to a point where we lost our temper and quite honestly made a fool out of ourselves… I know that I have. One thing I noticed that this verse says is that a shortsighted fool will ALWAYS lose his temper and display his/her anger. Displaying anger should not be a way of life for us, it should not be our response to everything we encounter. When someone can display self-control when they have every right to be angry by the world’s standards, you can’t help but respect that person. It takes much more strength to restrain anger than to display it. What is awesome is that God can redeem anyone no matter where they are. God can redeem an angry person and help them with their self-control. Most of the time for myself, I have to forcefully remind myself to pray if I am filled with rage, by doing that it forces my mind to dwell on what is good and not dwell on what I am angry about. If we keep dwelling on a situation that makes us angry, it is literally like dumping gas on a fire. Next time you are angry I encourage you to try it and see if it works the same for you.

“If you hate a person then you are defeated by them.”  -Confucius

“You cannot see your face in boiling water. Similarly, you cannot see truth in a state of anger.”

Dad Joke of the Day:

My local cinema got robbed of $1000 yesterday.

The thieves stole two jumbo popcorns, two large Cokes, and a packet of Skittles.

Have a great Friday and a fruitful weekend!
