Let the Word Dwell Richly

Good Morning!

Let the [spoken] word of Christ have its home within you [dwelling in your heart and mind—permeating every aspect of your being] as you teach [spiritual things] and admonish and train one another with all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Whatever you do [no matter what it is] in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus [and in dependence on Him], giving thanks to God the Father through Him.  -Colossians 3:16-17

Let the Word of Christ have its home within us and whatever we do that we do in the name of Jesus, that is how I would summarize the above verses. When we allow God’s Word to live within us we have wisdom inside of us and when things come up and we are questioning if something was from the Holy Spirit or our imagination, we have Biblical wisdom to compare it to, to see if it lines up with the Bible since the Holy Spirit will not go against scripture.

When we do things in the name of Jesus, we bring glory to God. It doesn’t mean that we have to force Jesus onto everyone we come in contact with but if we build relationships with non-Christians we will have an opportunity to discuss Jesus with them because living for Jesus doesn’t align with the way of the world and through that we will have opportunities to share Jesus with them. Verse 16 is about investing in ourselves by learning scripture. Verse 17 is about investing in the Kingdom and using the wisdom we gain from scripture.

“Fill your mind with God’s word and you will have no roomful Satan’s lies.”

“Every Word of God is Spirit and life. When you receive and obey the Word of God, the power of God works in you.”  -T.B. Joshua

Dad Joke of the Day:

Did you hear about the guy with an irrational fear of buffets?

He couldn’t help himself.

Have a great Monday!
