Grace

Good Morning!

But if it is by grace [God’s unmerited favor], it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace [it would not be a gift but a reward for works].   -Romans 11:6

I was talking to a friend about grace and he reminded me how hard it is to comprehend true grace. With humans there is many times that grace is extended but with unspoken expectations or it’s a “I’ll extend grace but you owe me one” kind of grace. If it is done in true grace there is often that we feel like we still owe that person something as a return for that grace. That is because our human nature is to compare, to keep score. God on the other hand extends grace without any strings, without keeping score. Scripture says that if we truly repent and ask for forgiveness that God forgets our sins, but we are the ones that keep digging up our old sins. As soon as you bring up your old sins the enemy loves to swoop in and make you think that ‘thing’ is unforgivable and that God is not truly extending that grace. Don’t fall for it, instead focus on scripture and what God is telling you.

“Grace is a free gift of God, but to receive a gift you must have open hands.”  -Philip Yancy

“Sin does not stop God’s grace from flowing, but God’s grace will stop sin.”  -Joseph Prince

Dad Joke of the Day:

I got a gnome named Anne and I put her in my front yard.

It is now gnome Anne’s land.
